Leah Shirley’s embodied research is guided by a desire to find her reflection beyond the mirror. She delights in timeline jumping — combining techniques of the ancient past such as mosaic, with the contemporary via digital video, revealing connections that disrupt the linear. Embracing technologies like ritual and astrology through sculptural installations grounded in processes of accretion and transformation of materials, her practice is a love letter to change.

Leah Shirley (b. 1988, Austin, TX) received her BFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago. Her work explores the intersections between her embodied research in astrology, ritual and materials. She has participated in exhibitions throughout the US including Woman Made Gallery (Chicago, IL), New Release Gallery (New York, NY), Orgy Park (Brooklyn, NY) and Genesis (Milwaukee, WI).
